Curriculum Developments

Please take some time to view the powerpoint demonstration below, which demonstrates the template we have developed for Literacy K-5. Our revised local literacy curriculum reflects the new Maine Learning Results, and the Parameters of Learning. As we are a literacy-based district, you will note a preponderance of technical terms such as Concept Categorization, Alphabetics, Fluency, etc. These terms and others are derived from the Literacy Frameworks professional development our staff is receiving. However, the curriculum is easy to read, and aligns with the new Maine Learning Results. With the addition of curriculum maps, teachers now have a timeline that corresponds to when specific literacy strategies should be taught. The language also corresponds with many of NWEA terms.

With our successes in literacy at Livermore Elementary School, we are beginning to see similar results at Livermore Falls Middle School, and Livermore Falls High School. We are also using this template to continue curriculum work at LFMS this summer and LFHS next fall.

Currently, we are moving forward with our Health and Physical Education curriculum. In conjunction with the Instructional Design Team, our health and P.E. professionals at M.S.A.D. # 36 will be creating a draft that is fully aligned with Maine Learning Results. Once the draft is board-approved, the Health/Physical Education curiculum will be posted on-line.

Please take a moment to review the following Powerpoint presentation, which explains the purpose and the format of our local curricula.
